Way back in late 1940's and early 1950's, the Jayanagar housing layout was formed behind the iconic Lalbagh garden, Bangalore. The area was surrounded by several fruit orchards & villages like Siddapur, Kanakanahally, Byrasandra, etc.,
At the instance of Late Sri B.V.Narayana Reddy, the then General Manager of 'The Bank of Mysore Ltd.', the employees of the Bank formed a housing society named as "Mysore Bank Colony" in the year 1952 in Jayanagar I st Block near the Ashoka Pillar. An there were no educational institutions in the South Bangalore, the employees started a Higher Primary School with the approval of Govt of Mysore in the year 1952 in a rented building.
As the residents have felt the need of having a full fledged education society to start Higher Secondary School to cater to the needs of the growing population they formed an educational society named after "THE MYSORE BANK EMPLOYEES EDUCATION SOCIETY (R)" i.e.(MBEES) on 3rd May 1956.
In order to have its own establishment the society MBEES secured the land from CITB, Bangalore by way of allotment (wherein the institution is presently situated) by the intervention of Sri. B.V. Narayanareddy and also the mobilisation of donation from Smt Rani Sarala Devi, spoon of Wanaparthy Samsthanan (A.P) who had graciously donated the princely sum, which has enabled the MBEES to construct the Institution's Building in the present spacious land.
The registered society MBEES was first headed by Smt Rani Sarala Devi as Hon. President and Sri B.V. Narayanareddy as Hon. Secretary and other Senior Officers along with the Bank Employees as members of the society.
Rani Sarala Devi, a member of the then Royal family of Wanaparthy State (now in Mahaboobagar District of Telangana) known to Sri. B.V. Narayana Reddy was generous enough to donate substantial funds for the construction of our institution's building with which the ground floor portion of the existing sprawling building came up in the year 1956. As she was a well-wisher and a sincere social worker, she was made as the First President of The Mysore Bank Employees Education Society. The Society also unanimously decided to name the Institute as Rani Sarala Devi Educational Institutions.
